IMPACT

What can be expected by the end of each key stage:

By the end KS3…

  • Students will be ready to undertake GCE Drama or BTEC Performing Arts with a basic range of vocal and physical skills.

  • Students will have experienced devising in response to a range of stimuli using a range of different theatrical techniques.

  • Students will understand basic subject terminology and use this to evaluate a performance.

  • Students will have had some experience of analysing and evaluating their work in a piece of extended writing.

By the end of KS4....

  • Students will have achieved a GCSE in Drama or BTEC Performing Arts or both.

  • Students will have built on the vocal and physical skills they developed in Key Stage 3 using these with more consistency, range, creativity and confidence to communicate a greater range of meaning to the audience.

  • Students will be able to use an increasing range of subject terminology with accuracy.

  • Students will have developed their knowledge and understanding of at least 3 key theatrical practitioners and their techniques.

  • Students will be able to interpret a script and use a range of vocal, physical and interpretive skills to bring the script to life.

  • Students will be able to analyse a range of stimuli and create an original performance using an increasing range of dramatic conventions with confidence and creativity to communicate aims and intent to the audience.

  • Students will be able to analyse and evaluate a piece of professional live theatre and a range of production and performance values.

  • BTEC ONLY: Students will understand the processes and roles and responsibilities involved in order to create a range of professional works in a variety of performance styles.

  • GCSE ONLY: Students will be able to realise a published play approaching the play as performers, directors and designers.

 

By the end of KS5…..

  • Students will have achieved an A Level in Drama & Theatre Studies, a BTEC Level3 in Performing Arts or both.

  • Students will have explored the styles and conventions of an increasing and more challenging range of theatrical practitioners and have demonstrated the ability to apply their theories to their own devised work and their own production concept.

  • Students will be able to use an increasing range of subject terminology effectively, accurately and consistently.

  • Students will have built on the vocal, physical, interpretive and communication skills developed in Key Stage 4 using them with increasing confidence and creativity to communicate meaning and intent to an audience and in order to reproduce more challenging professional repertoire.

  • Students will be able to analyse and evaluate a range of stimuli in order to create an original performance selecting and applying the techniques of a range of practitioners creatively and effectively.

  • Students will be able to perform confidently on their own.

  • Students will be able to anyalyse, evaluate and form judgements about professional works in light of a statement.

  • BTEC ONLY: Students will be able to use referencing effectively to reference sources used to support them in their theoretical work
