Pupil Premium Strategy Statement 2023-2024

In April 2010 the Government introduced the Pupil Premium to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals and others. This additional funding is on top of the funding a school receives and is targeted at reducing the gap in progress between students from disadvantaged backgrounds, to ensure they benefit from the same opportunities as students from less deprived families. The funding is allocated to Sandy Secondary School to spend on students from low-income families who were known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) over the last 6 years, Services Children and also for children who had been in Local Authority Care continuously for more than six months.

How the Pupil Premium is spent is monitored closely with all schools accountable for the impact of the money spent on reducing the gap in progress and attainment between Pupil Premium students and Non Pupil Premium students. We have consistently ensured that we utilise Pupil Premium funding to support our students, with a specific focus on raising attainment, increasing aspirations and promoting engagement. This is help maximise the life opportunities for all students. We pride ourselves on our caring and inclusive ethos, and our belief that all students can reach their full potential with the right support.
